I had some calendula and chrysanthemum infused sunflower oil left, which is good to make body lotion.

Will try again. I might had too much clay colorants. The colored parts
are too soft.

• I used elderberries and elderflowers infused hot water (as elderberry tea) and froze it for making soaps.

Something wrong with the gold colorant this time. Texture is odd.

Mint Soap 薄荷皂

This recipe is adapted from Jan's post of Garden Mint Soap Recipe on https://thenerdyfarmwife.com.

In THIS post, Jan shares how to infuse mint water:

"To infuse the water, add handfuls of fresh (or dried) mint leaves to a jar and pour simmering hot water over them. Steep for up to half an hour, but not too long or your tea will be too dark and will affect final soap color. Strain, cool further if needed, then proceed as directed in the post Soap Making 101."

I froze mint tea into ice cubes instead.

Freshly picked mint leaves

Followed the recipe of Jan's newest post on https://thenerdyfarmwife.com. Picked some aloe leaves from the garden and made two batches of "Aloe Vera Facial Soap".

How to extract fresh aloe for soapmaking

1. Cut the aloe leaf into several sections.
2. Use a sharp knife to run along the inside edges of each section, separating the inner gel from the outer skin.
3. Use your fingers or a spoon and press the aloe gel from the leaf.
4. Place in a small food processor or blender.
5. Process until smooth. (It will get fluffy, almost like egg whites.)
6. Store in the refrigerator if you’ll be making soap within a few days, or freeze in ice trays for longer storage.

This batch used the recipe below, which I didn't adjust the amount of water.
Adding aloe vera without reducing water caused this soap "sweating".
I unmold it after 24 hrs and sat aside for another day. It looks ok after two days.

After two days, cut the soap and it looks ok. However, it is very soft,
even though I added sodium lactate.

1. Forgot to reduce the percentage ratio of water:lye
2. Fresh aloe vera: 15% of total oil weight: 52.5g
3. 3.5g sodium lactate
4. 95% alcohol spray (just one spray, don't spray too much)
5. It took a long time to get trace.
6. Cedar wood essential oil: 10g
7. Green clay oil: 5g + soap batter: 50g for green colorant
